How it all began
Stuck in the mundane corporate setting and disallowed her well-earned leave of absence to travel and visit family, Marchie decided to seek a meaningful career that would allow her to travel, work and have fun all at the same time. Although not for everyone, this unkept secret is what she wishes to pass on to those who need the flexibility of working wherever, whenever while having the security of next day’s meal and next month’s trip. 😉
Marchie spent over a decade seeking out all of the ways she can incorporate play into her working day – from blackout work with the generator on a typhoon riddled Philippines to mobile work whilst island hopping to ensure client satisfaction, and even timely salary distribution whilst crossing the borders of Cambodia and Vietnam. You name it, she’s probably done it – wearing many hats working as an executive assistant, recruiter, real estate consultant, bookkeeper, trainer, developer, and project manager.
After gathering a rich set of experience in multiple roles, she dreamt of giving back and finding emerging freelancers who share her fun-filled nature. Plus, making her clients’ work concerns seem like play by connecting them to the right people in different sectors.
Fast forward to 2020
In 2020, just like many other worlds, Marchie’s world got turned upside down. In this midst of the COVID crisis, she realized this was her time to provide others with a platform that connects opportunity. So, she set about demystifying myths of talent based on country and ethnicity, scouting out emerging freelancers for her new venture, Playsmeant.
Initially, she gathered talented people from the Philippines who had been displaced from the pandemic and fused forces to reap the enjoyments of online work. Marchie served as a mentor full of warmth, nurturing their birth into the digital world to a fully-blossomed independent consult.
Some flocked the Playsmeant nest, to operate off their own backs. While others grew, more jumped on board to get the credit they deserved.

The real secret behind recruitment at Playsmeant was Marchie prioritized talent over geography. Because of this, she was able to shatter stigmas about creatives only operating from certain countries, giving equal opportunity to people of different backgrounds, nationalities, communities, and sectors, other than Silicon Valley.
After some time, a client would come to her, wanting to seek her for a project. Due to her talented network, Marchie was able to put freelancers first before her, matching people with shared skill sets and interests to each project.
Whether it was through branding, web design, web and app development, or sourcing – the alignment to the right freelancer allowed them to gain the exposure they needed and it often resulted to repeat business.

Since taking this approach, many clients and freelancers have opened up to one another, sharing their cultures and perspectives across countries, enriching experiences. As a result, making work feel like absolute play!

By mixing efficiency with productivity, Playsmeant managed to connect clients across the world with freelancers from the Philippines, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Russia, the United States, and elsewhere!
